Villa Park (220) vs Chicago Predators (12 for 1 in 3 overs) game washed out; Uzair Ali (53) and Fawad Agha (51) stood tall in an incomplete contest |
Villa Park were denied a rare opening game win by mother-nature as rain came down hard in the second innings when VPCC was in a strong position to win. Earlier in the game Villa Park lost the toss and Chicago Predators put them in to bat under cloudy and breezy conditions hoping to contain high power VPCC batting. Initially plan seemed to be working as Yasir (2) and Mudassir (2) made some early in-roads when they knocked 3 quick wickets for only 30 on the board. This united the strong batting pair of Uzair Ali (53) and Fawad Agha (51) who revived the miserable situation to a stronger position by hammering Predators with some fine hitting as well as milking at the same time with some exquisite running. Arif Mehmood tried all his options in the middle of the innings with no reward. Eventually Haris Syed (1) got CPCC the break through and from there part timers and slow bowlers took string of wickets to limited VPCC from late innings on-slaught, but Uzair's plan of last year to keep Hassan Bakhshi (30*) in the arsenal paid off again as Hassan along with Ahmed Bakhshi (8) and unexpected partner Furqan Qureshi (14*) raced to another fast paced finish to the innings. Furqan broke free and hit some fine shots including a massive six and a four to sum up VPCC day with the bat. VPCC scored 220 in 30 overs. Chicago Predators (after some resistance) started their innings and were face with some fast bowling right away. Rain came to rescue in the 3rd over when Predators were 12 for 1. Game was called off and both teams split one point each. Villa Park declared their team co-men of the match recipients Uzair Ali and Fawad Agha.
